Bikes - N - Mikes

Here you will find some friends who cannot resist straddling IRON
and letting providence take its course...

If you are a Ham Radio Operator and ride Motorcycles, PLEASE, Email a photo of you with
your bike, include your callsign and name to me.

It does NOT matter what kind of Motorcycle or Scooter you ride as we all have favorites
but we all have the love of the wind in our face, the smells of the world as we travel, the
sound of the pipes and the freedom and  passion of staddling iron for a  ride...

Thanks to Mark NM7L and his wife Michele for sending in this great looking picture of them and their scoot, a 2005 Honda Goldwing GL 1800.  The picture was taken at the Lower Monumental Dam in Washington, September 2005.  We will reserve space here for Mark, he has to get us some more bike pics, hi hi

K7SUW - Wes and His wife Sue,  and one really cool scoot.  Wes and I met on the air on HF late Thurs the 22 of June and met up Fri the 23 for a short ride.  Told Wes and Sue I would like to get some photos for this page and hopefully Wes or Sue will pass on more Personal info and Specs on this really cool scoot, don't let looks fool  ya, it'll CRUISE RIGHT ON DOWN THE ROAD.  Wes told me that it is 400 cc but with my old withering brain I couldn't hang on to the rest of the info.   I do have to apologize to Sue, she really didn't want to get her picture taken without fixing her hair, you know what those helmets can do,  anyway I wanted to get a good shot of their scoot and also got Sue fixin her hair,  sorry Sue, HI HI....  I'm sure we'll get to do it agains soon...

Here is a pic of me (KD7PIB - Jamie), in front, with my  99 Custom Harley.  You mentioned awhile back that I should send you a photo.  The other guy is Scott and his custom Harley, not sure of the year.

The second pic is me again, my dog Shorty, and my girlfriend (KE7JEZ - Darci's) son, Colton on his electric chopper.  On Colton's front forks you will see my african grey parrot, Louie.

Great looking bikes Jamie and Colton...

K7LW - Lynn's Iron Horses.  He writes the following when he sent in the Pictures.

"The two bikes that I?m sending you pictures of are both my current rides. Although since the pictures were taken I've added some goodies to both bikes, they are still both pretty much the same in appearance as you see them here. Both are Harley-Davidson's, the black one is a 2000 Softail Standard (FXST) with a stage one Scream?n Eagle performance kit on it. The blue one is a stock (for now) 2004 Softail Heritage Classic (FLSTCI). I refer to them both as ?my kids.? The standard and I have rode to ten states together so far, the farthest being Missouri. Since I just picked up the Heritage this past August, other than taking it to western Washington in the Puget Sound area, I have yet to really test its (or my) metal in a long ride just yet. But from what I?ve seen so far, it?s an exceptionally comfortable and equally great handling bike.

I?ve been riding street bikes fairly steadily since age 19 when I bought my first real street bike, and 1979 Kawasaki KZ-750. Before that I was an avid dirt bike rider from about age 12, give or take. Since then although I?ve owned primarily Kawasaki?s, I?ve slung my leg over everything from a Suzuki GS-850, to several Honda Goldwing's, and even jumped the boundaries of warp speed on a crotch rocket or two. But I?ve always retained a genuine love for the big V-twins. But that is my choice. I strongly believe that what ever a person chooses to ride is their choice. As long as they get into the wind and enjoy the ride "safely," it?s all about two wheels regardless."

"Here are a couple of recent shots from a ride a buddy of mine and I went on along the Skagit River. As you can see from my bike, I connected with the local fauna a little more than I would have liked too. The other bike your seeing in the pictures is a 2003 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic owned by an old Air Force buddy of mine."

Thanks Lynn for the Pictures and your information, I'm sure others of our mind set will enjoy your story and the pictures.

Here is a picture of Dustin and Tracy's ride.  Dustin is K7CDW and his wife Tracy is KD7WEN.  I'll let Dustin take it from here:

I have not had many adventures on the Shadow since I just got it. We have mostly been off road riders until this last summer. Before the Shadow we were mostly just trail riders. Last year I was riding a 1999 Yamaha xt225 and Tracy was riding a 2004 Quad Sport, (however since we have a 1 year old baby that slowed her down a little). I mostly ride with my son Zack who goes with me on the street bike on the highway and off road he rides a 2004 Honda CRF 70, and my 16 year old daughter rides a 165 Quad Runner. I sold my dirt bike so I am looking for another project bike for this next summer.

The only prior highway miles were without an endorsement. Just got my endorsement in July, So I have only rode about 700 (legal) miles on the highway. I  can't wait until the weather gets a little better, so we can get the Shadow out a lot more.

The Bike we ride is a:   2005 Honda Spirit Shadow 750

K1KJ - Bill out of Boston sent me some pictures of his Iron.

My two hobbies are ham radio and motorcycles. In ham radio I have always been a home brewer. Whether building a power tetrode amplifier or just a small oscillator or MOPA, it's all equally fun for me. I've worked in broadcasting for 30 years and today am chief engineer at a Boston tv station.  As for  my hamshack....It is pretty simple right now. A Swan 350C and an older Mosley tribander.  I am also on 2m FM from the bikes as well.   I've been licensed since 1967.  I spend my weekends out on the bike, usually riding up the coast of Maine. I have two  HD Electraglides, an '06 and an '08.
